Barry Lebowitz received the Doctor of Optometry Degree from Indiana University in 1987. Following graduation he spent 6 months in residence at the University of California ( Berkeley) School of Optometry Low Vision Center.

In 2000 he completed a Masters Degree in Public Health at the George Washington University, which included conducting a study of the vision needs of children served by the Georgetown University Pediatric Mobile Clinic.

Dr Lebowitz has also passed the competency based exam in ” The Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease” as administered by the International Association of Boards of Examiners in Optometry, and is certified to prescribe medications in Maryland
